September 6th Meeting review by ^CircuiT^

The meeting didn't really get going till about 5:20 when the first person showed up other then me (^CircuiT^) and my girl friend. Soon after the rest of the people showed up and befor I knew it we had about 10 people which was an ok turn out for the first meeting at are new location at the 23rd street Coffee People.

This meeting was also special because we had are youngest member ever attend she is the cute little baby holding the copy of 2600 in the picture.

Over all the meeting was good with only two lame people showing up and the conversation was really good also.

One thing people need to understand now more so then the past is the noise level at the meeting. In the past when it was held in the mall we clould be really loud and know one would really care but being in the coffee shop now we need to be more thoughtful of the other people there reading.

We should have the meetings at a different location

I don't understand why there not held at Heaven. Which is a small business owner that has free wireless and Computer on LAN. That's where I go to kick it sometimes. Coffee people is hella pricey too. Just a thought. Who where the lame people at the meeting, I didn't meet anybody that was lame. Maybe I won't go anymore, atleast I got some new contacts in PDX. Just thought it would be a goood social thing for me, rather than working on projects at home alone.

The meeting isn't held at heaven for a huge host of reasons...First off it's loud...Not everyone likes techno music...They don't have soft chairs....and I plan don't like it and since I have been kind of running the meetings and getting the word out for a very long time I feel its up to me to pick the location.

The choice locations were either a Coffee Shop or a book store, and since most book stores demand quiet like libraries it had to be a Coffee Shop. We do not want the meeting to be held in a large location that no one can hear since the meets are in place to meet other people interested in computers or the telecomm and just chat and show off.

When I make appearances I tend to bring some toys (buttsets, cams, equipment, etc). In the past we've had everywhere from 12 year olds thinking their elite because they want to hack hotmail to people who are just straight cocky.

I for one have seen people come and go at the meetings, I used to go to the meetings with Anubis503 which was the Portland coordinator who gave up his privileges and circuit took them with my blessing.

Circuit does a great job with the meetings and has the support of me and many others in everything he does having to do with OR2600. Granted I'm going to be called "lame" or "kiddie" but I could care less what anyone thinks.

I just thought it was really lame that circuits would say that 2 lame people showed up and not mention there names. Otherwise keep that shit to himself.

I could honestly care less how many people show up, and the stupidity of the users. We run the meetings to spread knowledge and help people but yet at the same time no one seems to think we have lives, I mean circuit lives in VANCOUVER and comes to PORTLAND just for the meetings, its a little trip, I come from Milwaukie to Portland which isn't as far but is still a lengthy trip.

I do come far and its not Vancouver its Washougal, Wa to Portland. Also unless you have been living next 24 hours aday you don't know what all I have had to do to make the meetings anything at all.

There was once a time when the meetings where in a mall that was loud and full of stupid people and 80% of the people at the meeting where young kids that had no clue what is going on in the world around them and now I have changed that. Not you or anyone else. So you shouldnt really conplain about anything.

On top of that when I goto the meetings I bring with me lots of fun things to look at and have conversation about...etc. I can't really say that about anyone else.

I took this meeting under my wing as some might say for one reason only and that was because I though it could be something really good and it's slowy becoming that now.

So I guess you're not gonna answer my question

A 2600 meeting is yes, a forum to exchange data. Not talk about who was cool or lame. The review you did just sucked, maybe you should read docs on running a 2600 meeting. When we ran them, the review of the 2600 meeting was about what was talked about. IE. I talked about WTO/critical mass with a few of the guys, palm apps, and etc. If you asked me what's lame, is linking CDC on your LJ like you're a member

Hey guy... I hate to break it to you, but 55 wpm is not something you really want to claim. There are 60 year old women in the Data Entry department of Qwest who can type at least 75 wpm, and they get paid next to nothing.

You might want to get hip to some crazy warez I have... it's called Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. :D
